The Animation Picture Company announced that it has optioned the feature film rights to the video game franchise. The story follows Spyro, a rare purple dragon of prophecy, on a voyage of self-discovery as he struggles to come to terms with his amazing potential, while finding himself embroiled in an epic struggle against an ancient evil. The Animation Picture Company will produce Spyro the Dragon as a fully animated, 3D CGI feature; the Altiere Brothers ("Dr. Dolittle 4") will adapt the screenplay from The Legend of Spyro game trilogy; no directors have been assigned yet.
