SCi said the new Tomb Raider and Hitman titles helped it to swing back to profitability, as its its core earnings reached $54.58 million in the year to June 30, with a pretax profit of 179.1 million. SCi said that Sony's recent decision to delay the European launch of the PS3 until March 2007 has no affect as it has no plans to release any game on the platform until 2008.

According to
German Gamestar magazine, Epic's Jay Wilbur revealed at the Tokyo Game Show that UT 2007 has been further delayed, until Q2/Q3 2007. While Epic never announced an official release date, Sony initially mentioned it was to be a launch title, and while many retailers had it listed for end of the year, a few months ago
The Inquirer reported it was postponed until 2007. Specific reasons for the delay were of course not provided, but it is safe to assume the extra development time will be used to polish the game.

A few days ago Sony's Ken Kutaragi's
TGS 06 keynote speech revealed that the PS3 would be backwards compatible with 16 bit games on the MegaDrive/Genesis, much like the Nintendo Wii. Oddly enough SEGA Japan has issued a short statement clarifying that such claims are not correct at this point, that the option is merely being considered, and is currently "under examination." Did somebody speak too soon?
