LucasArts Producer Julio Torres revealed today that the Star Wars Galaxies developers are going to gradually roll out an overhaul of its much-debated Star Wars-based MMO. In his community letter, Torres points out that user feedback has indicated the learning curve to be too steep for beginners and not enough immediate action, resulting in people leaving again. Electronic Arts Japan, Star Wars Galaxies distributor in Japan, announced today that it is seizing support for LucasArts/SOE's Star Wars themed MMO. European and North American servers remain unaffected so Japanese gamers who which to continue their quest will get a chance to transfer their account. Tomorrow the 3rd SWG expansion pack, Trials of Obi-Wan, is making its debut in North America.

LucasArts and SOE today announced pricing and other details for Star Wars Galaxies: Trials of Obi-Wan, their digital download only expansion due out on November 1. Set on the Episode III planet of Mustafar and including missions delivered by the spirit of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Trials of Obi-Wan will be available for pre-order beginning September 26th for $29.99. All who pre-order will get access to Trials of Obi-Wan on October 25 (a full week before its official release!), as well as an exclusive Transport skiff, the first eight-person vehicle ever featured in the game!

Star Wars Galaxies gets a big update on June 29 with quite a few additions going into Publish 19. Some of the more notable ones include a new chapter in the Syren story arc quest, changes to Smuggler slicing, morale-boosting visits from heroes of the Galactic Civil War, and TONS of revisions implemented because of feedback offered at Star Wars Galaxies Fan Fest 2005 in Anaheim earlier this month.
