Did you know that the circular-lid insertion on top of your GameCube could be easily removed and replaced? It’s true; soon companies will begin to promote this aesthetic modification en masse. How cool would it be to replace that boring default Nintendo lid insert with a custom-made Sonic the Hedgehog design? Keep an eye out, they’re coming. There are tons of customization options available for all major video game platforms that not only provide mad bragging rights but can also increase the functionality of your lean, mean, gaming machine. One thing I think we can all agree on is that video games are fun -- a 5-year-old playing Pokemon can tell you that. The question is; are you a standard-issue gamer or are you a power-gamer?

Warcommander is one of CDV's rather unknown and smaller titles ... it could be considered a budget version of their blockbuster hit "Sudden Strike". Warcommander could be considered a lite version with somewhat less spectacular graphics but equally as much action and we enjoyed it very much (although we ARE eagerly awaiting Sudden Strike II) ... You command a company of soldiers dumped on Omaha Beach. Check our screens.. Carry On Private!

Today we have a small interview with Terry Dowling, the man behind Project3 and Mindscape's Schizm: Mysterious Journey. Slates for release somewhere this summer. If you never heard of the game let me put it briefly. ’Schizm: Mysterious Journey’ is a non-violent single-player innovation in the adventure game genre, with fascinating non-linear game play and stunning 3D graphics. Written by the highly acclaimed science fiction writer Terry Dowling and developed in Poland by LK Avalon, ‘Schizm: Mysterious Journey’ will literally keep you playing for hours on end, in this massive double DVD-Rom or 5 CD-Rom release.

The first patch for the retail game is now ready. This patch addresses the most serious issues. Most of this was done last week, but we also did a major optimization to the server that was really needed to make the game play better. We played a nice game yesterday on a server that was capped at 384K upstream, and it was smooth.

Somewhere this week everybody should get his grubby hands on a copy of EA/Crave's "Global Operations", we had a chance to give it a test run and played it all the way through ... Campaign 1 has 13 missions, taking you all over the world and Campaign 2 is just the same but as the opposite team. The game sure is bloody (without extreme gore/limbs flying off), good gfx, loads of action. I somewhat found the AI to be lacking in respect to certain team members standing around in the open and getting shot without returning fire, especially the medic seems have issues while giving medical attention. The single player maps do not give many opportunities for 'sniper' fans to do their thing since there are not really any "open" or "wide" maps. So for all you First Person Shooter (FPS) and Counterstrike fans out there, 60 shots taken from all missions to keep you happy until you got your own copy! Njoy!!!
