Microsoft Corp. said on Thursday that parts of the source code, or software blueprint, for its closely-guarded Windows programs had leaked onto the Internet, possibly exposing its products to hackers and illicit copying. Microsoft said that copies of the source code from its Windows NT and Windows 2000 operating systems were being traded over the Internet, but that the copies comprised a tiny portion of the millions of lines of code used to create its cash cow products.

DreamCatcher Games has today confirmed that the long-awaited demo of its first-person shooter, Painkiller, will be available for download around 2PM PST on February 16th. This single-player demo will feature 3 action-packed levels, including one that has never been seen before and will be 200MB. Oxygen Interactive have signed leading racing-sim developer Brain In a Jar (previously known for Codemasters' Indy Car Series.) to develop an original Rally simulation. Due for completion in Q3, the game will be on the shelves ahead of Rally GB in September, on PS2 and PC. The game will include a selection of international stages, multi-player racing, accessible gameplay detailed physics and car-modelling.

Majorem Ltd., developer of "Ballerium", today officially announced the performers to compose the music for the title. Majorem's announcement came as a surprise after previously signing up the well-known "Infected Mushroom" to compose the game's soundtrack. According to the agreement between the two, Uranium will compose seven different soundtracks, one for each race in the game.

The official America's Army website has word that a new patch for the US Army's Unreal engine powered shooter will be released tomorrow. The update will be rather small as it only fixes a few minor problems such as correcting client and server-side flooding issues, Sniper rifle bug from the weapon selection removed, Admin Spectator Mode added, Community Game Server Support added, and a few other things (thanks Blues).
UPDATE : seems this update was a "wrong" date issue and a repost of an old article. No patch coming ...
