Fallout 3 places a player in the role of a Vault-dweller, who ventures from his secluded, underground survival Vault into a post-apocalyptic world of mutants, radiation, gangs and violence.

Bethesda Softworks announced that actor Liam Neeson, known for Schindler's List, will lead the cast providing voice work in Fallout 3. Neeson will play the role of the player's father and will appear prominently throughout the game.

Bethesda have updated the Fallout site with a countdown to the release of the Fallout 3 teaser trailer. On the site you'll find concept art created in conjunction with noted concept artist Craig Mullins, as well as a streaming version of the Fallout 3 title track. Bethesda will be updating the site weekly with new art as the release of the teaser approaches.

Today Interplay released its 4th quater 2003 results and apart from the usual digits & numbers (Interplay seems to be doing better, but still has financial hurdles to overcome) the real interesting bits came during the conference call disclosing several new titles. The fact that Interplay wants to focus on console titles is no surprise, neverthless KingPin 2 is in the works, but also new titles in the long running Decent & EarthWorms Jim franchise. Most important of all, an external studio is working on Fallout 3 (although not set in the typical D&D universe due to the Atari/Interplay dispute).

Noticed on RPGDOT that Silver Style's Carsten Strehse (currently working on The Fall, previously known for Soldiers Of anarchy) has put up some interesting comments regarding the demise and possible future of Black Isle and Fallout 3. "Well, we are definatly interested in hiring some of the former Balck Isle staff. I try to get in contact with them. I also disclose no big secret if I tell you that we have found a mayor partner for The Fall and that money wouldn't be the biggest problem when we would try to get the FO licence. My biggest concern is the reaction of the FO community. We're all huge fans of FO here and have deepest respect for the achievements of the dev team. However, we are no Black Isle, we are Silver Style. And I'm afraid that the community wouldn't be pleased with a FO3 that wasn't developed by the original team. Even if I'm very sure that we could deliver a real stunning game."

PC Gamer in Sweden and the French gaming magazine PC JEUX claims that Fallout 3 is under production and will be out in the Summer of 2002. Read more about it over at Vault13.
