Trion World Network is expanding its portfolio with an innovative project, developed by Petroglyph, a studio by former Westwood founders, known for the Star Wars: Empire At War series. Whether this has anything to do with Petroglyph's previously announced free-to-play MMORTS was not revealed.

Gore Verbinski has long expressed his interest in doing the BioShock movie adaptation of 2K's action game. It will begin production in 2010, and John Logan (The Aviator, Star Trek: Nemesis) has written the screenplay, while BioShock creator Ken Levine is consulting. Having recently turned down a 4th Pirates of the Caribbean movie, Verbinski has hit a snag and the BioShock film has been put on hold. Universal Pictures has asked the parties to look for an alternate location, as shooting in Los Angeles will have projected costs of $160 million, although it reaffirmed this will not be another 'Halo' movie fiasco.

Section 8 is a futuristic FPS that brings strategy and tactics to the genre in a game where players can modify the battlefield on the fly. Last year TimeGate settled an Section 8 trademark infringement dispute with ABC Studios over an upcoming Section 8 TV series, and earlier this month it took on Paramount in a similar suit over a Section 8 interactive web series, which has now been settled.

Swords & Soldiers is a side-scrolling real time strategy game, in which three distinct factions battle for the powers of the gods. The game will feature a single player campaign and a competitive split-screen multiplayer mode as well as several other game modes.

Runic Games, studio by formed by Flagship Studios developers responsible for Mythos, announced Torchlight, an adventure-themed action-MMORPG which emphasizes a simple and intuitive interface, fast and furious action, and a colorful and compelling game world.

Battlestations: Pacific features a massive U.S. and Japanese single player campaign that offers a unique blend of action and strategy. Players must plan their moves carefully on huge open-world arenas and fight in the air, above sea and underwater to relive some of the most hard-fought battles in WWII history. Bionic Commando features Nathan Spencer (voiced by Faith No More's Mike Patton), a government operative who represents the ultimate fusion of man and machine.
