The ESA announced that it has filed suit today in Minnesota Federal District Court, asking that the State's new video game law be overturned. Similar laws have been struck down by six courts in five years, including the Eighth Circuit which governs Minnesota, costing taxpayers thousands of dollars in legal fees.

ATI announced today that it is working with middleware provider Havok to drive physics on its latest GPUs. Using Havok FX, developers can enable more convincing environments that include richer, more detailed explosions, smoke, debris, fluids, and cloth by combining the rendering of two ATI graphics cards, with a third devoted to modeling the environment.

With the launch of new consoles comes the inevitable discussion of backwards compatibility, and it seems Sony is running into a few issues. Initially announced as made possible through a software emulator, it seems engineers will not be able to complete the tool in time, and thus Sony opted to simple

The report also reveals update patches through online service, plans for bigger hds, upgraded network features, and that the flash memory will be used for its OS. Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty has
signed a violent video game bill into law as SF 785. Under the law, which goes into effect on August 1, 2006, minors under 17 who rent or purchase M- or AO-rated games will be fined $25. Additionally, retailers will be required to post a sign notifying customers of this practice.
