After several delays, THQ, World Wrestling Entertainment, and JAKKS Pacific have reached settlement agreements with respect to the WWE video game and toy licenses and the THQ/JAKKS Pacific joint venture. While THQ will part ways with JAKKS, it has extended its WWE partnership for another 8 years.

For years now THQ and JAKKS Pacific have been in the process of arbitrating the royalty rate to be paid by THQ to JAKKS Pacific for WWE video game sales, which was
recently settled. In July
we reported that THQ had yet to renew the WWE license, even filing lawsuit against JAKKS over it, and it has just been given an extension to make a decision whether it will pick up the WWE name through December 31, 2014.

JAKKS Pacific has notified WWE that the joint venture between THQ and JAKKS intended to exercise its option to renew the WWE video game license for another 5 years, which is set to expire on Dec. 31, 2009. However, THQ has filed a lawsuit in California Superior Court, Los Angeles County, claiming it was not ready to make a decision with respect to renewal of the license, and is seeking a declaratory judgment that JAKKS was not authorized to unilaterally issue a renewal notice.
