MaxGaming has released an updated demo for its mecha MMO game Dark Horizons: Lore Invasion, where the player’s stats will affect the outcome of the war and ultimately write the history of the Dark Horizons universe. This demo features a Team Deathmatch map, an Assault level titled Sector 2, and a Capture the Core map called Crash Site in a choice of four mechs on either side (

SCEI announced today that cumulative worldwide shipment of PS2s had reached 100 million units, within 5 years and 9 months since its launch in Japan in March 2000. Previous record was set by PSOne which reached the same mark in 9 years and 6 months since launch, thus making the PS2 3 years ahead of schedule.

Nintendo's PR machine got into gear today with an early bird special, mark May 9, 2006 in your calendar as Nintendo will unveil the Nintendo Revolution. That particular day is of importance because that is the annual day when Nintendo has its pre-e3 conference at the Kodak Theatre (home of the Academy Awards), on Hollywood Blvd, kickoff at 9:30 a.m. Hopefully we'll get to see more than just a mockup, and a tv remote.

In a surprising turn of events, a community message in the
Heaven Games forums reveals that Stainless Steel Studios, previously known for Empire Earth, Empires and currently working on Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War, has been shut down. Details as to what and why are not revealed, probably due to legal ramifications, but several now-former SSSI employees claimed the game is merely weeks from going gold, although its current status has not been determend. R&F: CaW is owned by Midway so the decision to have another team finish it up, or cancel it altogether, is up to them.

Nintendo announced today that, so far, it has sold over 2 million Nintendo DS' since it launched earlier this year, selling at a rate of 100,000 units per week. Nintendogs contributes to its hand-held popularity, which has sold over 1 million copies since its European launch on October 7th in Europe. Nintendo hopes to repeat that success through the holidays with Mario Kart DS, its first Nintendo game to offer Wi-Fi gaming through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

A community developer chat on Adventure Europe with Michel Bams, one of White Birds Productions' founders, reveals that besides Paradise, Beniot Sokal's studio is working on an additional two titles, "Sinking Island" and "Aquarica." Sinking Island is a dark detective adventure story, set on a tropical paradise, at a millionaire's hotel a crime is commited, and while the island seems to be sinking for unknown reasons, you have to find out who did it. Aquarica is still in the early stages of development but will have full 3D graphics and be a tie in with a movie.

Without much exposure, Rockstar's website reveals that the controversial developer is expanding its UK operations with an all new development studio in the heart of London, which up until now was mainly the European publishing headquarters. Rockstar London is looking for artists, animators, programmers and senior network programmers, which could indicate a nextgen project with built-in online capabilities. Whether this new studio is an acquisition of an existing developer, or any word on its projects, was not disclosed.
