The California State Assembly approved legislation to limit children’s access to extremely violent video games, now only needing the signature of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to become law. Assembly Bill (AB) 1179, formerly AB 450, calls for ending the sale and rental of violent video games that depict serious injury to human beings in a manner that is especially heinous, atrocious, or cruel, to persons who are under 18 years of age.

The fourth game in the PC strategy series that has sold over five million copies, Sid Meier's Civilization IV is a bold step forward for the franchise, with spectacular new 3D graphics and all-new single and multiplayer content. Civilization IV will also set a new standard for user-modification, allowing gamers to create their own add-ons using the standard Python and XML scripting languages. After two and a half years of development, Playlogic is now finalizing beta testing of its upcoming shoot´em up Xyanide, an action packed sci-fi game developed by the company’s in house development studio, Playlogic Game Factory. With breathtaking visual effects, fast paced action and Dolby Digital sound, the game is set to revive the legendary shoot´em up genre.

NCsoft North America has revealed the contents for the City of Villains Collector's Edition retail game pack that will be released to stores in North America when the game launches later this fall. Ubisoft Europe announced today that it will launch The Settlers Gold Edition on DVD at the suggested retail price of £34.99. Available on September 15th, the special DVD set will include both The Settlers Heritage of Kings and its add-on The Settlers Heritage of Kings Expansion Disk.

World of Warcraft Lead Producer Shane Dabiri has put up an updated battleplan looking ahead to what WoW players can expect in the coming months leading up to BlizzCon and the expansion announcement. Shane talks about adding mid-sized raid content, expanding current, and adding new, world events, PvP content and making it easier for lower level characters to advance in the PvP Honor System, improving underused talents for all classes, implementing is fee-based character transfers on the website, and closes off with a promise about soon coming details on the Hero class, and the WoW expansion at BlizzCon.

Midway Arcade Treasures: Deluxe Edition consists of 28 arcade games including all of the games from Midway Arcade Treasures 2 and Midway Arcade Treasures 3. This 4-disc compilation set will be available for the suggested budget price of $19.95.

Microsoft Game Studios and Rare, Ltd announced today the Perfect Dark Zero Limited Collector's Edition for the upcoming release of the Xbox 360. In addition to two discs full of content, the sleek embossed, high-quality black metal game case contains "Hong Kong Sunrise," a special-edition comic booklet set in the "PDZ" universe which sets up the game's story, and one of nine mysterious Holographic Glyph Card collectibles.

World Championship Poker 2 features a much more detailed one player game, where you now have to work your way up the ranks, starting in your mom's basement. Once you start winning and accumulating money, you can spend your winnings on increasingly better pads, and furnishings. Hit a losing streak, and you may have to hock your stuff to stay in the game.

Capcom announced that people who paid no less than $200 for their mech game Steel Battalion: Line of Sight are out of luck, as of Friday September 30th, 10:00AM-12:00PM PST, Capcom will be ending the online services for Campaign Mode of Steel Battalion. Capcom will continue services and support for both Free Mission Mode and System Link play, but these are offline modes and results in a crippled game as SB:LoC is an online game and the campaign mode is required to unlock content. The standard mode only has 4 vehicles (of a possible 31) and 4 missions (of a possible 25). The community is quite outraged and is demanding an unlock patch, but so far no reactions, or reasons why it is being shut down, from any Capcom respresentative.
