KOEI today announced that Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires has reached gold status. DW5 Empires adds an Empires mode where you have to sign political alliances in order to conquer the Three Kingdoms, as well as a full coop mode. Contrary to DW4 Empires the new title not only has you deploy your generals but also command then once on the battlefield.

BioWare has announced the opening of a new studio, BioWare Austin, based in Austin, Texas. It is the second of BioWare's studios and the first to be located outside of Canada. The new studio is working on a yet unannounced MMO, headed by former Sony Online executives.

A study by research firm DFC Intelligence shows that online game subscription revenue grew 43 percent to $2 billion in 2005, and while the total industry grosses an estimated $29 billion, online gaming is expected to reach $6.8 billion in sales by 2011. Blizzard's World of Warcraft accounts for 50% of the online income, 20% for casual games, and the rest divided over sports, strategy and action.
