A few days ago Akella announced that its also developing an upcoming third-person title called Axle Rage for the PlayStation 2 and PC platforms. No specific details are known, unless you speak Russian, but it seems the 3D post-apocalyptic biker version of GTA3 mixed with Road Rash will make use of Criterion Software’s RenderWare. GarageGames celebrated the successful launch of Marble Blast as the premiere download from Lindows.com's Click-N-Buy Warehouse. Marble Blast was first available on Linux in February, and now Lindows.com is the first site to distribute directly a GarageGames game.

GarageGames today announced its Game Developer's Conference (GDC) showcase of games. GarageGames announced today the release of the Mac OS X version of their highly acclaimed title, Marble Blast. The Mac demo features five playable levels and access to several of the game's power up items. The full version of Marble Blast, available at www.garagegames.com for $14.95, includes 72 levels, a variety of power up bonuses and additional hazards.

The software company that makes the David Beckham Soccer Game has collapsed, with the loss of 77 jobs. Receivers have been appointed by Liverpool-based computer game firm Rage Software, ending hopes that a rescue package could be put together. The Liverpool-based firm is now likely to be broken up, and any new games it is working on sold off.

Eidos Interactive announced that the PlayStation2 version of Commandos 2: Men of Courage has gone gold to begin manufacturing by Sony Computer Entertainment America and will be in stores August 30th, 2002. Commandos 2: Men of Courage is a port of the popular PC team-based strategy game set during World War II. The Xbox version will follow shortly!

Strategy First just let us know that they have just released a playable demo of Haemimont Multimedia's isometric real-time strategy game, Celtic Kings: Rage of War. The place to be is their usual Gigex (direct Gigex link). The demo features a tutorial, the first mission from the adventure mode, a single player map and weighs in at 90 MB. (Thanks Blues).

Guess how many people have applied to change their names to "Turok"?? No, go on, guess.

Acclaim UK invited applications to take part in a project known as Identity Marketing, whereby individuals will change their names by deed poll to Turok, the hero in the title of Acclaim's epic new release, Turok: Evolution. In a little over 12 hours, over 3,000 people have applied to swap their identities for those of a video game character and new applications are being submitted to the website that is dedicated to this project at the rate of 20-30 per minute.

THQ Inc. and Fox Interactive today announced an exclusive, worldwide Game Boy Advance publishing agreement for two new titles. Under the agreement, THQ will publish Game Boy Advance games based on the popular The Simpsons Road Rage console game and the Buffy the Vampire Slayer property. Both of these games are scheduled to release in 2003.

Universal Interactive, Inc. (UI), a studio of Vivendi Universal Publishing, announced further details today regarding its upcoming video game titles based on Universal Pictures' The Hulk, the eagerly-anticipated feature film from acclaimed director Ang Lee (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). Based upon one of Marvel Comics' most memorable and popular superhero series, this film is scheduled for release on June 20, 2003.
