Midway Games Inc. announced today that Defender, an all-new 3-D version of the popular 1980s arcade classic, has shipped for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system. Defender is scheduled to ship for the Xbox video game system from Microsoft, Nintendo GameCube and the Game Boy Advance on Nov. 4, 2002.

The Elder Scrolls III: Tribunal, is an expansion pack for the critically acclaimed and multi-award winning RPG, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind for PC. Codemasters has released a new patch for
Prisoner of War, if you are running WinMe or Win98 then get this update off
the Codemasters downloads page. It address a problem with the wrong language chosen by the launcher and a problem where the launcher may start minimized. There is also a
Privateer's Bounty patch available, updating the game to v1.04.151. This upgrade addresses improves multiplayer stability, a couple of bugs, damaged system and long distance views of the models. A few weeks after the English patch, there is now
a German patch for Ghost Recon, likewise updating this edition of the squad-based tactical shooter by Red Storm Entertainment to version 1.3. As before, this release adds a huge number of changes, including gameplay, graphics, AI, editor and multiplayer improvements and fixes.

Croteam's web site has been updated with the announcement that the Xbox port of Serious Sam has gone gold. The wait is now over. At least for the US version. The US Xbox version of Serious Sam is officially approved and it is going into gold mastering. European version still needs to go over the approval.

We just got informed that New World Order, the tactical FPS in development at Termite Games will be GOLD next week and is scheduled for a November 15th release in Europe and Asia, while US date is set in January 2003. Expanding the reach of Wolverine’s razor sharp adamantium claws, Activision, Inc. announced today that X-Men: Wolverine’s Revenge is headed to the Nintendo Game Boy Advance and PC. With the addition of these two versions, the game will be released on five platforms simultaneously with the upcoming X-Men feature film entitled “X2.” X-Men: Wolverine’s Revenge is also in development for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system, the Xbox video game system from Microsoft and Nintendo GameCube and is the only action-adventure game that allows players to assume the role of Wolverine, the ultimate fighting X-Man.

Our goal in the CPL and any other pro offline tournament we support is to create a common set of rules that levels the playing field. To that end, the rules posted by the CPL reflect that players have only a limited set of things they can change. Exactly what will be changeable hasn’t to my knowledge been fully decided on yet.
Right now, we (as in Epic) are talking about creating a “Pro” version of the game just with tournaments like this in mind. It will be pro in terms of what game settings can be altered and what can’t. It will encompass what can be tweaked and adjusted as well as what game settings should be used. This will not be something designed for online play at this time.
