DDR creator Konami has filed a lawsuit with District Court for the Eastern District of Texas against Viacom, parent company of Rock Band developer Harmonix, citing the game violates three patents filed in 2002 and 2003. Konami, who will release its own Rock Revolution later this year, is seeking monetary compensation and an order that would block defendant from using the cited peripherals.

Sony has
rolled out new PlayStation Store content starting with the Rainbow Six Vegas 2 Gift Pack (free, includes three new maps), double dose of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rush (including the special guitar solo edition of Working Man) tracks for Rock Band, and no less than four demos (Siren: Blood Curse, Monster Madness: Grave Danger, WALL-E, and Spiderwick). Of course there are the usual game/movie trailers, PS3 themes and wallpapers.

Last year Riot Games, comprised of former EA, Sony, Microsoft, Sega, Atari, Konami, Activision, and Midway employees, bagged $1.5 million independent equity funding, and today it announced that Benchmark Capital and FirstMark Capital has invested $7M to finance development of its, still unannounced, new action RPG/RTS hybrid title.
