Killzone: Liberation is an all new, action-packed installment in the Killzone series, and features a new intelligent 3rd-person camera system. One of the best games of 2006 is getting even better as SCE is currently beta testing the Infrastructure Mode to possibly add Deathmatch multiplayer to Killzone Liberation.

Sony released its 3rd quarter results revealing it has shipped 1.8 million units, and while revenue was up nearly 10%, its overall income dropped 5%. PS2 and PSP hardware sales dropped, and overall software sales also declined, although the sale of PSP titles in particular was up. As a results Sony Games division recorded a $455 million loss, compared to $570 million income last year.

Slitherine announced that it is to work closely with the Lordz Game Studio, a mod team turned professional developers, on its first commercial title, a historical strategy game set during the Napoleonic wars. Slitherine will assist in design, development and have signed up worldwide publishing rights for the title.

Take 2 is looking for people who can come and play BioShock in the 2K offices in SoHo, for 3 hours a day, for 3 days in a row. You'll get $10 an hour, and get to play 9 hours of BioShock. Please fill out the questionnaire if you are interested. Time blocks are a bit flexible: 3-6, 4-7, 5-8, or 6-9 are all possible. Battlestations: Midway follows the story of naval recruit Henry Walker, whose first assignment as a gunner at Pearl Harbor is the starting point of an incredible career at the heart of the US Pacific Fleet in 1942, in what was to become one of the most inspirational military campaigns in history. This multiplayer demo features one map playable online or LAN.

Derry-based Dark Water Studios currently consists of 10 programmers, artists and support staff, and looking to expand to 25 by the end of 2007. Currently working on a PC multiplayer title funded by the Department of Enterprise, the team is also in the early stages of prototyping an original title for PC and the next-gen console platforms.

Microsoft announced record revenue of $12.54 billion for the quarter ended Dec. 31, 2006, a 6% increase compared to last year, driven by Zune, X360 and its server applications. Despite increase in sales (from $1.69 billion to $2.96 billion) for the Entertainment and Devices Division, the Xbox has yet to make a profit as it currently has an operating loss of $289 million, slightly higher than last year ($286 million). With 10.4 million consoles sold Microsoft Games Division expects to turn a profit fiscal 2008 (second half of 2007).

Nintendo DS now is in the hands of more than 10 million consumers in the Americas. Since launching in November 2004, nearly nine Nintendo DS or DS Lite have sold every 60 seconds. Nintendo also revealed 20 titles are lined up for Q1 2007.

Front Mission the First, remake of the original SNES version, will use the main touch screen for tactical movement of troops, like we have seen in Advance Wars: Dual Strike. While other recent ports seem to have gotten a graphical upgrade, no such luck with FM The First.
