City of Heroes/Villains developer Cryptic Studios announced today that the company is actively searching for new talent to join their development team.

Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War is a detailed RTS game letting you completely command one of the four mightiest empires of the ancient world: Greece, Rome, Egypt, and Persia. This patch brings your UK retail game to v1.12 and addresses a mouse issue, network traffic, and the usual bug and crash fixes.

Galactic Civilizations II takes place in the distant future, when mankind has become a space-faring civilization and must contend with other extraterrestrial powers for domination of the galaxy. Stardock has released a v1.2 retail patch, which includes a few more updates and corrections. This updated version now support the French edition of the game (thanks Patches).

Blizzard revealed today that with the release of WoW: The Burning Crusade players will finally be able to play classes that were previously unavailable to their faction: the blood elves are getting blood elf paladins, while the draenei will have access to the shaman.

Samurai Warriors 2 is not a major change since its predecessor although the beat-'em-up will feature several changes compared to the original. You will be able to select from 20 characters each offering different ways of fighting, no load times when the action changes from interior to exterior battles, and new combo configurations and better special attacks.

Take-Two announced today that following the 30-day period for public comment, the FTC has unanimously approved the Consent Order and Agreement with Take-Two and Rockstar Games. All outstanding matters pending before the FTC have been settled and no penalties or fines have been assessed.

Killzone is making its handheld debut with Killzone: Liberation, an all new, action-packed installment in the Killzone series has been developed especially for PSP and will feature a new intelligent third-person camera system – ideally suited for handheld gaming.

Earlier this year we reported that a leaked Bethesda release schedule revealed plans to bring TES IV: Oblivion to PS3 and PSP. Bethesda then responded saying nothing was announced yet, but now that rumor seems to have gained some more credibility by way of a pre-order/product page over at online retailer Gamestop. While the PSP version is still absent, the PS3 edition is listed with a tentative release date of November 6, 2006.

Microsoft today released its Q4 fiscal results, and while overall revenue increased, the profit dropped almost 24%. Most interesting, of course, are the games-related numbers, where Microsoft is happy to announce sales of its Xbox 360 are going steady, and it has now reached an install base of 5 million. Unfortunately, since the next-gen console is sold at a loss, that resulted in a 106% loss increase, even though revenue increased 94%. Microsoft hopes to achieve a positive margin over the Xbox 360 console life cycle, although so far, the original Xbox is still turning a profit.
