UK trade magazine MCV claims to have received word from an insider that Activision snagged the rights to develop a game based on DreamWorks Studios' upcoming The Transformers animated movie. The source said "Activision picked up the rights to Transformers last year and has already set a top US studio to work on the project," but Activision refuses to comment on rumors.

A new study by the University of Missouri-Columbia claims that there might be a link between video game violence and increased aggressive real-life behavior in gamers. Study subjects who played violent video games showed diminished brain responses to images of real-life violence which, according to the study's authors, correlates to aggressive behavior.

Midway’s real-time strategy game Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War puts players in the role of some of history’s greatest generals, is now scheduled for release in June 2006.
